Then along comes SGT Hester...

Someone wrote: “No woman has won the silver star since WW2, None in Korea, None
in Vietnam, Then along comes SGT Hester. Don't mess with a woman that is
carrying a M4 with a M203 under it.”

The writer is correct... it's been three wars since a woman has 'won' the SS.
But we all know the reason why it's taken so long for a woman to earn a medal
for Valor... the reason is because we men don't allow women to serve in combat.
And we don't allow women to serve in combat because we are afraid females just
might serve as valorous as males.

During WW2 we whites would not allow a single African American soldier serving
in our segregated military to receive the Medal of Honor because we refused to
believe that a black man could be as heroic as a white man... so even when a
black man performed the exact same act of self-sacrifice as a white soldier we
gave the white soldier the MOH but the black got the DSC. It took 53 years for
the first black WW2 soldier to get his long-deserved MOH.

And still, after over 200 years we won't allow females to serve on the front
line because, just like during WW2, we males cannot accept that a person we feel
isn't equal to us could perform as well, if not better, than we can.

Women should be allowed to serve on the front lines.

Perhaps just as it took many, many years for us whites to acknowledge that we
are not biologically superior to other races, we may one day acknowledge that
our women aren't biologically inferior to men.
