Try starting a worm composter - just as diverting and more real world
useful than climatology adn Enviro-whinerism.

A Conservative and a Liberal are walking down the street when they
encounter a homeless fellow. The Conservative takes out a business
card and a $20 bill and says,

"Come in Monday morning and we'll start you out as a janitor."

The Conservatve and Liberal continue walking. They encounter another
homeless fellow. Then Liberal reaches into the Conservative's pocket,
takes out two $20s and says,

"Theres' a Welfare Office a couple of blocks down the street. Here's
$20 - take a cab."

The Liberal then pockets the other $20 and says to the Conservative,

"You swine! What can anybody buy with only $20 these days?"
