Actually, a Usenet tech support newsgroup is not a good place to start
research. Tech support newsgroups like this one are not aimed at people
doing homework - they are focused on giving specific tech support answers
to solve computer problems.
Even a first-year student should know that searching "high and wide" on
Microsoft's website for data about Linux is not logical. For technical
details and white papers about Microsoft products, use their Technet
website. For technical details about SUSE Linux, look at the Novell website
and at information about openSUSE.
For all else, start with Google.
