Vanguard is correct. What it appears to us that your doing is not wanting
adobe reader to open while your browsing the web, which is really the only
reason you would want to disable it's BHO. It would be even easier to just
configure Reader to not open them within the browser following the steps that
Vanguard has given.
Reader's BHO in this case is how IE will call to adobe Reader to open within
it's window, essentially it does exactly what it says, it's a browser helper
object, it assists the browser in doing something. Disabling only parts of
an IE add-on can cause application issues like the error message you are
experiencing.
