Subject: Relativism, statements of objectivity; need confirmation.

(sorry if this is a duplicated post...newsreader is having issues.)
Hi all,
I'm having (had) a discussion with a (former) friend regarding
objectivity and the nature of absolutism and relativism--and
especially the implications of making absolute statements.
Obviously, I think I'm in the right in this conversation. ;D And he's
completely off base. But I have no one to help me out, and hoped
someone here might be able to
a. Let me know I'm on track,
b. Let me know where my arguments are weak or incorrect,
c. Convince me I'm totally wrong but with better arguments than my
"opponent".

The conversation went on here:

(I'm "Mechphisto" there.)

Now, I'm NOT looking for people to become trolls or flame!! In fact, I
don't encourage anyone to jump in on the conversation. I'm looking for
feedback for myself. And it can even be in the form of private
messages if you wish.
Thanks for any opinions or advice or comments!
-Liam
