An excellent article that tells a story similar to my own coming of
age in terms of philosophical/political/economic thought. I've come
to consider the left position more or less an affront to humanity as
it seems to be in many ways based on the notion that people can't be
trusted to think for themselves.
For instance, I once enjoyed Naomi Klein's book "No Logo" but now I am
deeply offended by her speech in support of her new book "The Shock
Doctrine" where she tries to paint Milton Friedman as some sort of
monster. Damn him for suggesting that people be free to deal with
each other and make their own choices! Come on.
Witness the people who take part in discussion groups and get so upset
at the suggestion that they take responsibility for themselves.
