Well, it obviously wasn't all that "shocking" or "awesome" if within
days afterwards the Iraqis were engaging in mass looting while we did
nothing and if even after almost 5 years (a period longer than it took
us to crush Germany and Japan) we still haven't ended Islamic
militantism or terrorism - and in fact there doesn't appear to be any
end in sight. We are also still fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan
who are obviously not much in awe of us - and why should they be?

Admittedly, that significant terror attacks on American soil have
ceased (though not elsewhere) is encouraging. Whether it continues or
not remains to be seen.
