The black line - which is the running average of the blue line.
Unfortunately this graph does not continue the average once
the blue (proxy) data has stopped. You would no doubt find it
confusing were I to suggest you mentally extend the black line
by averaging the red line.

If found this graph that includes measurement/proxy data as well
as future projections.

Concentrate on the red line to the left of 2000.
Perhaps the variation i projections at 2100 is what you sources
decry.
