No, but we all learned that the seasons are caused by the tilt of the
earth's axis and that it remains fixed in space with respect to distant
stars as the earth orbits the sun. Thus at some parts of the orbit the
northern hemisphere is more directly facing the sun during the day and at
other times it is less directly facing the sun.
