Yes. $2.7 per intermittent watt is too expensive to compete seriously, athough it is better than PV.
Can you make one at lower cost ?
Actually, bigger is better for wind power.
The Danish 3.5 MW moster turbines cost about $1 per watt. No wonder the things are popping up all over the globe, and wind energy is
growing faster than any other alternative energy source.
Another way of looking at it is that fossil fuel is still too cheap. I wish it would be taxed 100% in the US, and alternatives
funded with this money.
Gasoline at $8/gallon will do miracles in terms of reducing consumption and a better world for all of us.
