Yes, Photovoltaic is much more efficient at collecting solar energy that
agriculture. But, Photovoltaic requires much more capital equipment costs,
labor costs, preparation, maintenance and so on. So it is not nearly as
efficient as agriculture in dollars spent, at least not yet. Money is what
it is about, not energy efficiency.

Furthermore, there is no convenient and inexpensive way to store and
transport collected PV energy. Agricultural products are easy to store and
transport. Convenient liquid fuels are what it is about.
