No, Jesus asks if this is the way secular powers set things
up; He did not indicate approval or disapproval.

And of course Jesus elsewhere demands that we take in strangers,
on risk of hellfire if we do not. Should Huckabee mandate a system
wherein we will all be bivouacing immigrants, because that's
the way Jesus wanted things?

I didn't ask you if the poor should pay; I asked if Jesus
would *raise* taxes in a way that would further aggravate
the plight of the desperate poor.

And of course, the poor DO pay taxes already; 45 of the 50
states currently have sales taxes.

In any event, Jesus also provided a miracle which would allow
the poor to pay. What's Huckabee's proposal on providing
miraculous relief for the poor?

No, Jesus asks how things are currently done by those
in charge; He does not indicate that this is ideal.
