Most folks only walk about 3 mph and consider anything over half
an hour too long to get somewhere local. This limits 'walking
distance' to about 1.5 miles. Bicycles go about 15 mph so that
puts the comfortable range about 8 miles. Mopeds go about 25 to
30 mph so that's about 15 miles. Anything more than that and
you probably need a real vehicle.
