The only thing that needs be mentioned, here, is this fact that
liberal educators like to hide. The DEMOCRAT Vice President from the
term directly before Lincoln (who was, also, the Democrat to run
AGAINST Lincoln in the election) joined the confederacy and was one of
their main leaders.
