Sugar is not food because the nutrient it provides (carbohydrates) is
a bioavailable constitutent in other foods that carry a far greater
range of important nutrients and because the form of the carbohydrate
imposes demands on body metabolism that don't apply when eating whole
foods.

Westerners should also eat far less saturated fats and of the fats
they do eat more should be HDLs (high density lipoproteins). Non
pregnant or lactating women and children aside, about 1 gram of
protein per kg of bodyweight is about right -- (assuming one's BMI is
in the normal range).

No more than 10% of ones calories should be in fats and most of one's
carbohydrates should be complex carbs, ideally eaten as part of foods
with various grades of fibre (soluble, semi-soluble and insoluble) so
as to moderate the speed with which sugars are released. Care should
be taken to eat so as to ensure common micronutrient deficiencies (Zn,
Ca, Fe, B12,, C and E) are present. .

If westerners did this, they'd be a good deal more healthy than they
are now and a rather smaller quantity of land would be be required.
