Subject: Concerned about Prince Caspian

Just a short pop into the groups to say that my existing concern about
Prince Caspian just hit the accelerator button. This link...

...has Gresham (Lewis estate oversight of the movie) saying many
disturbing things. It has already been reported, many times, that
there has been many changes from the book to the movie (MUCH more than
LWW). However, in this interview, Gresham doesn't seem to care that
there are changes, saying that people take the books TOO SERIOUSLY and
that it is ONLY A MOVIE. He says that there wasn't any time in either
LWW or Prince Caspian that he objected to diversions from the story
(no veto use). He admits that the whole first part of the book has
been changed, to change the children's entrance into the plot,
different in the film than the book. Prince Caspian's age has been
increased from the book (dramatically), and there is a romance with
Susan (reported elsewhere) that is not in the book.

The changed plot of the book (from Aslan's authority and empowerment
of the weak to the message of honor, truth, etc), the changed age of
Caspian (older and more mature themes), the expansion of the actual
battle in the story (much as they did with LWW) from the book, and
more make this a complete change from the structure, audience, and
message of the original tale, even if Gresham believes the Holy Spirit
is prompting the story changes.

Therefore, I drop any endorsement I may have made for this upcoming
film (and the following sequels) and will adopt a wait-and-see
approach (with much doubt and reservation). I don't doubt these film
and graphic professionals will come up with an entertaining and eye-
pleasing film, and it may even have a good story of its own. However,
at this point, I doubt it could be the vision or intent of Lewis
(which even Gresham says isn't important, in the interview).
